Aesthetically,
my foundations are as a fine artist working primarily with drawing. I
use these skills to explore the drawing process through time-based video
and animation software, uniting old and new media.
Collaboration is fascinating as it opens
up new stimuli for ideas. I work with a composer who writes music using
computer generated music. Together, we present visual and musical pieces
in an interactive, installation context.
Interaction is about the role of audience
participation and enabling people to explore the non-linear narrative.
Light sensors, ultrasound and infrared are devices used to detect the
audience and I employ stimulus response rules for what is seen.
Art and science are combined through my
study of programming languages to explore interactivity by generating
different experiences as a work evolves over time. I am interested in
how technology can extend the boundaries of our understanding of the arts
and creativity.
